* In 1952 Mantell and Holdridge founded the company Caedmon Audio, the 1st major label to focus on spoken-word literature. * Their first issue was Dylan Thomas reading his "A Child's Christmas in Wales". * They continued to hire numerous actors such as Laurence Olivier & Vanessa Redgraves to read classic literature and poetry. * They also hired famous writers to read and interpret their own works: Collette, W.H. Auden, e.e.cummings, Frank Lloyd Wright.
