2004 Nobel Peace Prize for her environmental work in Kenya; The Green Belt Movement has planted over 51 million trees in Kenya since its founding in 1977. founder of Green Belt Movement-began by planting 7 trees in Kenya to stop deforestation & help with soil erosion-have now planted over 30 million trees; Nobel Peace Prize 2004; believes in a woman's power to change this world for the better 1 tree at a time.
